Tsafe Local Government Area Gets Women and Children’s Welfare Clinic

Zamfara State Governor Hon. Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle Maradun has commissioned a newly built Women and Children’s Welfare Clinic (WCWC) in Tsafe town of Tsafe Local Government Area in Zamfara State.
The newly built ten-bed capacity facility project, one out of seventeen, was awarded by Matawalle’s administration. It cost the State over the sum of sixty-two million naira to build.
Speaking at the occasion of the formal commissioning of the hospital, Governor Matawalle represented by Deputy Governor Sen. Hassan Muhammad Nasiha said that women and children’s health is a top priority agenda of his administration, stating that the project is a good step towards promoting improved healthcare service delivery in the State.
He commended the State Ministry of Health and State Primary Health Care Board for their commitment to bringing health services to the doorsteps of citizens and called on them to multiply effort in that noble cause.
In his speech, the State Commissioner for Health Hon. Aliyu Abubakar M.C Danmasanin Tsafe said the present administration has awarded the contract for the construction and equipping of seventeen women and children’s clinics across the seventeen emirates to give a sense of belonging to women and children and the vulnerable groups.
Hon. Aliyu MC highlighted other developmental strides of the present administration in the health sector, which included the construction of 147 primary health care centers to reflect the national policy of one functional PHC per ward, provision of tricycle ambulances to primary health care facilities, and recruitment of manpower to facilitate service delivery in the State primary and secondary health facilities.
On his part, Permanent Secretary of State Ministry of Health, pharmacist Aliyu Muhammad Maikiyo Maradun said various health surveys released had indicated significant improvement in the State health indices and attributed the development to the strong political will being enjoyed from State actors and assured continued collaboration with partners and other stakeholders to ensure the State sustains the feats.
He called on people in the community to consider the project as their asset by monitoring and reporting unwholesome activities to achieve the goal of its establishment.
Earlier in a welcome address, Executive Secretary State Primary Health Care Board Dr. Tukur Isma’il said with the completion of the project and its subsequent inauguration, the hardship faced by women and children in assessing healthcare needs would soon be history, noting the need for people in the community to take advantage of the facility through attending services such as ANC, facility delivery and immunizations.
The Emir of Tsafe, Yandoto Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Bawa and Malam Nasir Sa’idu of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Northwest Zonal Office, presented goodwill messages on the occasion.
The project consisted of a labor room, pharmacy, laboratory, consultation room, ANC unit, In charge office, and ten-bed capacity wards.
