Ogun Establishes Blood Sample Collection in 3000 Wards

Ogun State had banned public, religious and social gatherings before the Federal Government’s directive for a lockdown which also affected Lagos and FCT. The State has been under lockdown for more than 4 weeks now, although there have been free days where movement was allowed between some hours to enable stocking of essentials. The Executive Governor, Prince DapoAbiodun and his team have done a lot in combating COVID- 19 in the State. There has been different measures and approaches adopted by the team in combating the pandemic including testing, isolation, contact tracing, awareness creation and palliative distribution. In order to increase testing, six testing centres have been established across the State. There are also blood sample collection points located in all the wards in all the LGAs. Sadly, no member of the OgunSHoA is drafted to the response team, however, all the honourable members of the House are in contact with their constituents and have distributed palliatives in form of foodstuff, cash, facemasks and hand sanitizers to their constituents. They have also organized awareness programmes to sensitize their constituents on preventivemeasures to be taken at this time to check the spread of the virus in grass root communities. Although the House has been on break as result of the health crises, there are plans to reconvene soonest. This will enable members address the Health Insurance Bill and its attending issues as well as come up with a blueprint to support government’s efforts in combating the viral disease in the State.     Hon. AdegokeAdeyanjuAwoso; Chairman, House Committee on Health.
