BACKGROUND/RATIONALE
The International Universal Health Coverage Day (UHC Day), which holds every 12th of December, has been designated by the United Nations as a day to raise awareness all over the world, to advocate to world leaders to prioritize health by making consistent investment (provide, promote, and sustain) in equitable and quality healthcare for its citizenry. This is to ensure that Universal Health Coverage (UHC) objectives and priorities are achieved all over world. UHC priorities guarantees that everyone everywhere no matter their socio-economic status has access to quality essential health services without suffering financial hardship.
This year, the UHC Day 2022 Campaign is:
“BUILD THE WORLD WE WANT: A Healthy Future for All”
LISDEL will join several other organizations in Nigeria and all over the world to collectively raise a voice and advocate for Nigeria’s continued commitment to achieve UHC in Nigeria. The UHC Day 2022 Campaign will highlight the need for continued advocacy for better healthcare service supply and delivery to governments, to accelerate Nigeria’s UHC journey.
OBJECTIVES
Specifically, the objectives are to:
- Advocate for the release of funds for Family Planning (FP) and RMNCAH-N, through a High-level visit
- Build awareness and knowledge of relevant authority and the public on the need to fulfill commitments and garner public support by amplifying advocacy campaigns on social media.
- Launch the NOURISH PROJECT to provide RUTF for children suffering from severe acute malnutrition.
- Launch PROJECT REACH to provide financial risk protection for vulnerable Nigerians and expand health insurance coverage.
APPROACH
- A Webinar
With a panel discussion on Twitter spaces. Panel to comprise of:
- The offices of First Ladies
- Federal/State Ministries of Health
- Social Media Influencers
- High-level Advocacy Visit
To be conducted by a coalition of advocacy champions to lead conversations on the status of FP and RMNCAH-N in States and the need to fast-track an immediate intervention in delivery and supply of services, programs, and medical consumables to facility centres in the State.

A. Complete disbursement of the RMNCAEH-N 2022 budget appropriation.
B. Prioritization of FP and RMNCAH-N services and programs.
C. Activate BHCPF funds
These activities will be implemented alongside LISDEL’s other activities.
