Lagos to host Nigeria’s education policy meeting Dec 11

All is set by the Lagos State Government to host other 35 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory for this year’s National Council on Education (NCE) Meeting beginning from Monday, December 11th through to Friday, December 15th.
NCE is the highest policy-making organ for education in Nigeria, saddled with the responsibility of considering and subsequent ratification of the recommendations from JCCE Plenary meeting, which was held in Abia State sometime this year.
The event, which is the 67th edition, and with a theme: “Addressing the challenges of Policy Implementation : A Panacea for the Education Achievement of 2030,” will be held at the Lagos Airport Hotel in Ikeja.
The state’s Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Jamiu Alli-Balogun, made this disclosure at a media briefing to intimate the newsmen about the event and its intended purpose.
He explained that the overall essence of the meeting is to chart a new course that will lead to the attainment of the 2030 education development target for the country.
He said education development is very crucial to true economic prosperity for any country, reason the meeting is all-inclusive.
He listed those expected as delegates to include the Minister of Education, Prof Tahir Mamman, who will chair the meeting, the Minister of State for Education, all Commissioners of Education from the 36 states of the federation; state Permanent Secretaries of Education, Education Secretary (FCT), Professional Directors, the Secretary JCCE/NCE Matters, Desk Officers.
He added that other stakeholders expected are the Nigerian Education Research and Development Council (NERDC) Ministry of Defence, Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB), National Mathematical Centre, Paramilitary Organisations, Civil Society Organisations and Private Associations.
He said the Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu would be the special guest during the Ministerial Session, noting that the state government has been fully prepared to host a successful meeting.
