Jubilation in Borno As Zulum Approves N30K Minimum Wage for Teachers

  • The governor of Borno state, Babagana Zulum has increased the minium wage of teachers in the state.
  • Governor Zulum increased the teachers’ salary from N11,000 they were receiving before to N30,000.
  • The governor also assured adequate training for both qualified and unqualified teachers across Borno state.

Teachers in Borno are set to start receiving N30,000 as minimum wage following an approval by the state governor, Babagana Zulum. Vanguard reports that the governor while inaugurating the reconstituted board of the Borno State Universal Basic Education Board said the teachers would soon begin to enjoy N30,000 as against the N11,000 currently being paid to them.

Zulum stated that the reconstitution of the board became necessary after the expiration of the past tenure served by former members of the UBE board.

Speaking on the new minimum wage for the teachers, Zulum said the welfare of Borno teachers is paramount.

Zulum further assured that every qualified teacher in the state would be well taken care of by his administration. Zulum also encouraged teachers in the state to ensure they to acquire skills and methodologies that can help them teach the students effectively. He also said that unqualified teachers who were identied during the state assessments who a re-trainable would be trained by the state while those who are not trainable would be transferred to other non-academic department in schools.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Borno state governor has made it a habit to visit state-owned institutions without notice. The governor through his visits usually discover lapses faced by every institution in the state as well as take note of staff’s attitude to work in these facilities.
