GLOBAL ONCOLOGY TAKES CANCER CAMPAIGN TO CHILDREN ANDPARENTS

Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer globally, killing one womanevery two minutes. Sadly, ninety percent of these deaths occur in low- andmiddle-income countries (LMICs).
All of these deaths are avoidable
, as cervicalcancer is one of the few types of cancer that can be prevented with a vaccine;

in this case, the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine. However, even when theHPV vaccine is available, a general lack of understanding among the publicmeans that the vaccine can often go unused. Global Oncology (“GO”), a US-based nonprofit organization, is working to change that.

The

(

) is an innovative educational tool that aims to dispel myths andmisconceptions associated with all cancers and to teach readers of all ages theimportance of getting the HPV vaccine to prevent cervical cancer. Along withour in-country partners, we are aiming to distribute the GO Comic Book tochildren and parents as part of a broader educational campaign to buildawareness, increase demand for the HPV vaccine, and ultimately savelives.
Together, we can make cervical cancer history.
