Gender equality key to sustainable development — Gov Bago

Niger Governor, Muhammed Umaru Bago has said that the gender equality of women, is a moral imperative, as well as a key driver of sustainable development and social progress.
The Governor stated this while declaring Open a Two-Day 2024 North Central National Women Sensitisation Workshop, held at the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Center Minna, the state capital on Monday 29th April 2024.
The Governor, represented by his deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba, opined that the theme of the workshop: “Community Participation, Critical Stakeholders Support and House of Representatives Committee on Women Affairs as essential partners in the fight against insecurity, Drug abuse, Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children in our Society”, underscores the urgent need for collaboration and collective action by all stakeholders in tackling social vices and societal challenges, that creates safer environment for all.

Also, in separate remarks, the Wife of the Governor, Hajiya Fatima Muhammed Umaru Bago, stated, when reading the Speech of her Counterpart Wife of the Kwara State Governor and Chairperson of Northern Governors Spouses Forum, explained that the essence of the workshop was to sensitize women on the danger of drugs, insecurity and Trafficking in persons, which she pointed out, affect women and destroy communities that play a role in nurturing good morals society.
Also, the Chairperson, House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Kafilat Adetola Ogbara, admonishes the youths and students to shun social vices and the menace of violence, promising that the Federal House of Representatives, will enact legislative law towards eradicating vices that truncate the aspirations and hopes of the Womenfolk.
The Federal Law Maker, however, lauded the Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu by rolling out the Renewed Hope Agenda Initiative for Women and Children, which she emphasized would go a long way in creating confidence and tackling the menace of violence against women headlong.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Maryam Babangida National Women Development Centre, Abuja applauded the collaborative efforts of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, State Women Affairs, and Women Development Centre, as a productive participatory partnership towards Sensitizing Gender Equality in tackling insecurity challenges and violence against persons of gender inequality.
Finally, the Member Representing, Bida and Gbako Federal Constituency, and member of the Federal House of Representatives Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon.Saidu Musa Abdullahi (SMA), affirmed that the Women Workshop Sensitization for the North Central was geared towards improving on the tools needed for Women to fight for their rights, life support, skills, and empowerment strategies that promote sustainable development with impact to society and communities.
