Besides, he called for the establishment of Mbaise University, adding that Imo State has produced prominent sons and daughters, including two presidents of Chartered Institute of Bankers.
The event also recognised the efforts of 15 community members, who had served Nigeria selflessly in different sectors.
Some of the award recipients included Dr. Ken Okpara; Prof. Bongo Adi of Lagos Business School, an Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Ngozi Onadeko, Dr. Innocent Onwunali, Frank Ihekwoaba, Dr. Chioma Nwachukwu and others.
The District Governor, (DG) District 404A1, Lions Clubs International, Ano Anyawu, who also spoke at the event, stressed the need for Mbaise professionals to interact, share ideas, contacts and businesses for individual and community growth.
Also, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Winds Exploration and Production LCC, Frank Ihekwoaba, urged young professionals to work towards showing posterity, saying that Nigeria has turned what should be professional position into political situation.
He gave an instance of an estate, where people pay monthly or yearly for its maintenance.
“Everyone is required to make their payment without excuses, but to receive the services, you get excuses,” he said.
According to him, people have less association with their communities because they don’t want to be held accountable. If you don’t hold on to self, family, community and spirituality, as you go up the ladder, you may make wrong decisions.
“The only way you can achieve your purpose is when you know yourself and clearly define yourself,” he added.
