Although N13, 082.42 trillion was proposed, the sum of N13, 588.02 trillion (3.8% increase) was approved and signed into law for the 2021 fiscal year. However, given the need to improve the funding for Defense and Security, healthcare and other critical sectors, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on the 9of June 2021, approved the sum of N895.84 as additional funding commitment and supplementary budget for the 2021 fiscal year. This was subsequently presented before the National Assembly on 22of June 2021 for consideration and approval. Therefore, 86.02% of the fund is going to the Defense and Security, 9.33% to Covid-19 vaccine, 4.47% to allowances for health, education and wage other related issues, while about 0.18% to Nigeria Comprehensive AIDs programs which were the major targets and the key programs and activities to be carried out with the fund.
