A SUMMIT ON THE LEGISLATIVE NETWORK FOR UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE

PLANNING COMMITTEE, LNUHC

  1. Establishing a committee of development partners, called the Technical Strategic Group (TSG)  to develop and implement the concept of the LNU;
  2. Development of terms of reference for the LNU, TSG and LNU Steering committee;
  3. Launch of the LNU and convening of the first legislative summit on UHC;
  4. Development and piloting of performance scorecards for legislators;
  5. Development of a program of training and modules and training of legislators on the roles of legislators to implement the healthcare financing reform and towards achieving UHC, in collaboration with National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS);
  6. Building on evidence from healthcare financing assessments conducted by partners to  develop advocacy strategies to develop institutional, legal and policy frameworks for state health insurance or contributory health schemes; as well as increasing allocation and disbursements for health;
  7. Advocates to Executive Governors, Federal and State Houses of Assembly and media on including at least 1% consolidated revenue fund in the 2018 budget;
  8. Media parleys and summits to catalyze the implementation of the BHCPF;
  9. Training of CSOs and media on the BHCPF and malnutrition in Nigeria, budget monitoring and accountability of the sector;
  10. Convening of the second legislative summit on UHC.
