The Special Adviser to the President on Health, Dr Salma Ibrahim Anas, has unveiled a comprehensive approach health policy approach and implementation with global standards to ensure service delivery in Nigeria.

Ibrahim Anas in her presentation at a media briefing on the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu on health, reiterated the Federal Government’s mandate in shaping health policies, coordinating efforts, and harmonizing practices to achieve a unified national health agenda.

She explained that the Federal Government’s primary role is to drive policy formulation, coordinate effective harmonization, and build capacities.

will follow to ensure alignment with global standards. The Federal Government’s proactive stance is reflected in its efforts to bridge existing gaps in the healthcare sector.

“One of the notable initiatives is the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCF), a critical component designed to catalyze state-level health projects.

“While we don’t directly implement, the Federal Government mobilizes resources, including 1% of the consolidated revenue fund, to serve as a catalyst for state initiatives.

“Our role is to support and empower states to deliver on healthcare promises. Without the states’ active participation, we have nothing to show in this journey.
“This strategic approach underscores a collaborative framework between the Federal and State Governments, crucial for the success of nationwide health initiatives.

“Last year, a compact was signed by President Bola Tinubu and all state governors, marking a commitment to prioritize health and ensure seamless integration of health policies across all levels of government.

“This compact ensures that we are all aligned in our priorities, driving towards a common goal of improved health outcomes for every Nigerian.”

She added that one of the significant achievements of this collaboration is the notable increase in resources allocated to healthcare, including the mobilization of the BHCF.

“These resources are not merely financial; they encompass technical support, capacity building, and strategic guidance aimed at bolstering state health systems.

“The Federal Government prioritizes health by dedicating resources to fill critical gaps. This funding serves as a catalyst for states to enhance their healthcare delivery systems.

“The impact of these efforts is already visible in various states, where health outcomes have improved due to better resource allocation and strategic direction from the Federal Government.

“We are beginning to see improvements in health indicators across the states, thanks to this coordinated approach. It demonstrates the power of strategic alignment and resource mobilization.

“The journey is far from over. Dr. Anas stressed the importance of continuous collaboration and the need for states to take active ownership of health initiatives.

“Our work is ongoing, and it requires the sustained effort of all stakeholders. States must deliver on their health mandates for us to achieve our collective goal.

“Federal Government’s strategic health vision, led by Dr. Salma Ibrahim Anas, represents a paradigm shift in how health policies are formulated and implemented in Nigeria.

“By fostering a collaborative environment and mobilizing critical resources, the Federal Government is laying the groundwork for a robust healthcare system that aligns with global standards.

“This vision is not just about policy; it’s about creating tangible health improvements that will benefit every Nigerian, ensuring a healthier and more resilient nation.

“We are committed to advancing the health and well-being of every Nigerian. Our collaborative efforts with state governments are crucial, and we will continue to work together to achieve a thriving healthcare system for all,” Anas said.
